• The marriage of CalvinTichenor and Perlina Lay is recorded in Indianarecords.  Perlina's name is recorded in the marriage record as Pelina.  They were married on 24 April 1836 in Perry County, Indiana.

  We find a census record for this couple in the Perry County census for 1840.  The household has two male adults aged 20-30, so one of Calvin's brothers was perhaps living with them.  There is one adult femalein the same age bracket, which accounts for Calvin and Perlina.  Theyhave one male child and one female child under the age of 5.  This would account for their first son that appears in the 1850 census by name:  William P.
  
  But there is no girl child over 10 in the 1850 census.  William is 12and his brother Francis M is 10.  This seems to indicate that they had a girl who died between these censuses.  Alternatively, it may be that Francis was reported as a girl instead of a boy, which I have seenhappen sometimes, even in later censuses when the children are named and designated as Son or Daughter.

  This son Calvin, 3 years old in 1850, and thus born about 1847, is the person who married a Mollie later, and had another son named Calvinabout 1877, and a daughter Fairlee who married Matthew Butler in Arkansas County, Arkansas.  There are many Calvin Tichenor cousins in thisfamily lineage and it gets confusing.
